With extreme sorrow and a heavy heart, I want to inform you that my son, firefighter/Paramedic Eric Michael Dopp, died March 24, 2006 one day before his 27th birthday.  Eric suffered severe injuries in a motorcycle accident March 4th, 2006.  He died at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Eric was a firefighter/Paramedic employee of the Leon Valley, Texas fire department.  He was also a Lieutenant/Paramedic for nine years with the Windcrest, Texas Volunteer Fire Department.

To see the large memorial banner, click Eric's picture.  For more information, click the Memorial Page link below.  The site includes Eric's obituary and my daily journal updates during this trying, and tragic, time in our lives.

Eric Michael Dopp Memorial Page

Antique picture of a large family. This is not (to my knowledge) a Dopp family.

Welcome to our family history tree! The picture to the left is not, to my knowledge, a Dopp family. It does make a statement about genealogy! Take a few minutes to read the guestbook. It's interesting!  I hope you enjoy your visit to the Dopp Family Genealogy as I know it.

As always, please help the project by contributing corrections or missing information.  If you would like to contribute research materials, please contact me via e-mail or at my snail mail address.

I posted a new update to the database on Rootsweb.  Click on the "Pedigree Charts" to go to the page.

This site is a compilation of the work of many, many people.  Wherever possible, I document the contributors and sources.  When I first started this project some fifteen years ago, I often did not write down the sources.  If you find information without a source and you ARE the source or know what the source is, please let me know so I can update the data base.

I try very hard not to make mistakes, if you find any, please let me know.  If you have documented evidence that any information is wrong, let me know and I will make the appropriate changes.

This site is an entirely free genealogy resource.  (Some links here may take you to sites that require payment for information.)  You should find NO banner ads and popups.  If you see any on my site, let me know right away.

I sincerely hope this site is a good place to start documenting your own family heritage.

Several people have asked about a source I list as "Dopp Family Newsletter."  This was a quarterly newsletter started in October 1982 (Issue #1) by Marie Forehan and Margaret Schliepp.  It appeared quarterly until September 1994 (Issue #42.)  I took on the editor's job thereafter, (Issue #43 in March 1995 through Issue #51 in March 1997) until the burdens of work and family and newsletter overwhelmed me.  I was unable to find anyone willing to take on the job of editor or co-editor, so the newsletter folded.  Each issue was seven pages of research, information and stories.  Marie still offers complete sets of the Newsletter (spiral bound book) for $40.  Please contact her at leonamf@wpa.net if you would like a complete set of back issues.  Her snail mail address is:

Clicking on the pedigree link will take you off this web site.  To get back here, simply press the "back" button on your browser, or use the following URL: www.ddopp.com which returns you to the Dopp Families home page.

Some families know a great deal about their roots; others know very little. In these modern times, families tend to be scattered all over the country, if not the world. One of the goals of this web site is to keep the family history alive.

Click on the "Pedigree Charts" tab to see the pedigree charts of more than 5,300 names.

Please use the guestbook to let me know of any corrections to the information on this site.  (You may also e-mail me.)

Click on "View My guestbook" to see what others are saying.  If you prefer, send me an e-mail.  I always enjoy hearing from cousins!

Marie Forehan and the late Margaret Schliepp, both Dopp cousins, were instrumental in starting me on the path to learning about my family. They were co-editors of the Dopp Family Newsletter and did yeoman's work in gathering much of the information presented on this site.
